ABSTRACT
The idea of what a park is and how it relates to society is constantly changing. This is well illustrated by the chapters in Part II – which is in no way complete and reminds us of how much we do not know. Indeed, the insights provided by Carruthers’s chapter (and her other works) emphasizes how much our understanding of parks can be enhanced by an analytical historical perspective.
