ABSTRACT
For centuries, certain parts of the neem tree have been used in India for cosmetics, medicine and pest control. The related knowledge has been transmitted from generation to generation. Indian farmers extract a particularly effective and ecologically safe pesticide from the seeds (Shiva, 1997). As this oil loses its effects comparatively soon after its extraction, and since it can be remade in India at any time, production matches actual need.
