ABSTRACT

Enron is not an example of a privatized company. Rather, it is an example of an already private company, operating in and taking advantage of a market undergoing deregulation. By 2003, Enron, which went bankrupt in 2002, had indeed become known for its activities in the trading of energy (electricity and gas), as well as for its fraudulent activities. Most of Enron’s top managers were eventually called to trial, accused of illegal financial manipulation.
