ABSTRACT

The chapters in this book have been revised and edited mostly from papers presented at various dialogues organized by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in 2004.1 Some have dealt with the dynamic trends in intellectual property and their interplay with access to medicines and human health. Others have dug deep into the technicalities of new means of gaining exclusive control over medicines through data protection, while others have discussed some specific ways forward in promoting access to medicines.
