ABSTRACT
The State of Orissa in India suffers from large-scale housing deprivation in rural areas, primarily due to acute poverty and lack of technical knowledge on house construction among the households and construction workers. Most of the poor either do not have a dwelling unit or live in unserviceable kutcha (mud and straw) houses.
