ABSTRACT
The financial crisis of 1997 resulted in increased poverty in Thailand due to the fact that the majority of people affected were already at low income levels. In an effort to help the situation the Thai government created many projects. This included an initiative in 2001 to assist in the reduction of poverty and to develop community called the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) project (a tambon is a group of villages).
