ABSTRACT

The various elements discussed in the last two chapters – spatial scale, corporate organization and the technology of communication – interact in complex ways to shape the location of knowledge-based advanced producer services (APS) and thus the urban spatial organization of the megacity regions (MCRs). In seeking to understand these interactions more precisely, we need now to look more closely at the factors that firms find most important for competitive success. Our interviews give a wealth of information on this subject; in this chapter we present the most important conclusions.
