ABSTRACT
Gated communities, it can be seen from the preceding chapters, have a myriad of different interpretations and uses. The global spread of the chapters within this volume has pulled together an international survey of types and forms. The majority of the book’s chapters give a historical overview to the context in which the gated communities have operated (and continue to operate) in each country reviewed.
