ABSTRACT
One of the most complex challenges facing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) today is the question of their legitimacy as social and political actors and their accountability to key stakeholders. Challenges to the legitimacy and accountability of CSOs have emerged as they have begun to play increasingly important roles in development and governance processes at local, national and international levels.
