ABSTRACT

Specialty chemical ingredient manufacturers also fall under the category of supply companies. These companies conduct a significant portion of R&D in the industry, and current trends lead them to seek out larger numbers of ‘performance-enhancing’ and therapeutic compounds (Fost, 1997). Increased demand from manufacturers for natural ingredients in stable and useful form has created a supplier market of chemical companies that provide popular natural ingredients and develop ‘new’ ones by processing and recombining biological products. Specialty chemical suppliers also increasingly test new ingredients, supplying finished product manufacturers with a product dossier substantiating all claims.
