ABSTRACT

BT Group plc is a global telecommunications company, supplying a range of markets with services and equipment in over 170 countries, and is the UK’s largest telecommunications supplier. In 2009 it had 15 million customers (including many large multinationals), 107,000 employees and more than 1 million shareholders; sales revenue was UK£21.4 billion and it invested UK£1.1 billion in research and development. BT’s worldwide emissions of CO2 equivalents (CO2e) in 2009 were 906,000 tonnes, representing a reduction of 44 per cent (per unit of BT’s contribution to gross domestic product, or GDP) compared to their level in 1997, and a reduction from 920,000 tonnes in 2008.
