ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on the issue of public participation in the context of Dutch water management. It presents a wide range of possible methods for involving the public in water management, sketches differences in their design and effectiveness, and shows how they could be evaluated from the perspective of a water manager. By demonstrating the design and performance of the more innovative methods, we hope to provide an impetus for the continued development of this field.
