ABSTRACT
More systematic use of risk analysis is the key to setting food safety priorities more effectively. The preceding chapters discuss several elements of effective risk analysis including assessment of different types of risks, design and evaluation of policies and institutional arrangements to manage those risks, and measurement of the benefits and costs of different risk management strategies. Each element offers opportunities for contributing to more effective risk reduction. However, the greatest opportunity will likely come from better management of the system as a whole.
