ABSTRACT

The supply side of water resources in Jordan as addressed in Chapter 1 indicates their modest availability compared with the levels of demand. A gap exists between water resource supply and demand that evidently is widening with time by virtue of population growth, improved living standards, and the likely loss of certain resources, especially groundwater reservoirs, as a result of environmental degradation or mismanagement. Policies adopted to bridge the gap between supply and demand are fundamental to water resource management.
