ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the design and development process of a coursebook series specifically created for a group of young learners in Turkey. It provides a brief overview of how and why the project was conceived, which is followed by a discussion of critical issues and topics in materials design and development for primary school learners. The chapter then presents salient implications of recent research on materials for young learners and offers recommendations for practice. The chapter ends with suggestions for future directions in the field.
