ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on issues related to writing materials for Spanish teenagers in upper-secondary education. A number of critical issues and topics are explored, including distinguishing features of local materials, curriculum requirements, key competences, and homogeneous language needs. Choice of topic, activity types for teenagers, mixed abilities, and political and cultural sensitivities are also addressed. The skills and knowledge required to write materials for this context are also considered, in addition to the challenges and opportunities that this specific context affords.
