ABSTRACT

Chinese provinces have displayed a robust presence in China–EU cooperation, among which Zhejiang is a typical and representative one. Through the active participation of governments and enterprises Zhejiang and Europe have constructed a wide-ranging and multi-layered market-oriented cooperation framework. It is characterized with enterprises as the forerunner, multi-party participation on the stage set up by governments, and multi-wins originating from internal growth. Zhejiang–Europe cooperation has had remarkable achievements in the fields of trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges. By expounding on the cooperation practices between Zhejiang and Europe, analyzing cooperation traits, presenting typical cases, and summarizing cooperation performance, this article aims to provide a local perspective for understanding the wide-ranging and multi-layered China–EU cooperation.
