ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic forced most Health and Physical Education Teacher Education (HPETE) programmes to be delivered remotely, emphasizing emergency teaching due to crisis circumstances. The aim of this chapter is to explore the challenges and opportunities of an Activist Approach in HPETE delivered remotely. Using an Activist Approach created a place where wholeness was welcomed, and students and teachers could be honest and share their emotions and feelings. The chapter concludes with the need to promote wellbeing in the Activist Approach by valuing people’s expressions and employing a holistic approach to learning where teachers and students grow and are empowered by the process.
