ABSTRACT

The authors offer a commentary on each section of this book, Dialogues in Middle Level Education Research, Volume 2, grounding their remarks on the different perspectives contributing authors hold and bring to their research. The diversity of students and schools matters as does the context in which the research is conducted. The dialogic structure of this book puts these differences in perspective front and center. The authors also consider the different viewpoints various chapter contributors bring to their treatment of the topics in each of the five sections of the book. In doing so, they also highlight some of the socio-political factors that can influence research in both positive and negative ways. With this approach, the authors aim to provide a new lens through which to view and consider current research in middle level education.
