ABSTRACT

The authors offer insight into their prior study, which stands as the only research study that has examined the impact of the Illinois Horizon Schools to Watch (IHSTW) program. The authors explain why they pursued this topic and how this research stands to impact the Illinois Horizon Schools and the field of middle level research. They discuss potential challenges facing Illinois schools since the research was completed and the obstacles they have faced moving forward in this work. The authors conclude the chapter by explaining their current line of research which builds from the findings in the 2021 piece.
