ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines multiple exercises that encourage students to apply their quantitative research skills to “real-world” scenarios in which researchers would utilize basic multivariate analyses. These lessons allow students to review and consider several important issues such as developing research questions, the quantitative data collection process, choosing appropriate statistical tests, and crafting statistical and substantive interpretations of results. Two core ideas unite these lessons: (a) Data collection as an integral part of the multivariate analysis process; and (b) the real-world applicability of multivariate analyses.
