ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a lesson on helping students to nurture some of the deeper skills necessary for effective facilitation of interviews and focus groups, including being present, engaging in self-reflection, being attentive to shared humanity, and listening deeply. The lesson focuses on two priorities: (1) helping students to foster ways of being as interviewers; and, (2) helping students to begin developing tangible skills to engage in deep listening using silence and restatement.
