ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a lesson on coding data and developing themes for qualitative research. Drawing upon grounded theory, it focuses on three key concepts including: (1) identifying and applying epistemologies to guide data analysis, (2) engaging in open/initial coding, and (3) moving toward axial/focused coding. Through the lesson, students gain hands-on experience with navigating the complexities of qualitative data analysis and using different perspectives to interpret data.
