ABSTRACT

In the academy, there is a recognition that scholarly learning happens in a variety of settings that extend beyond traditional classroom and laboratory spaces. Further, scholarly learning also happens in collaboration with diverse learners, working together as co-creators and disseminators of knowledge. Contributions from the Special Topics section highlight the role of scholarly learning through engagement in high-impact practices ranging from undergraduate research, community-engaged learning, global learning, and writing-intensive experiences. Additionally, the role of policy, and associated implications, are addressed. The chapters in this section shine a light on the importance of supporting current and future scholars in all the contexts and settings in which learning can, and does, happen.
