ABSTRACT

Team coaching is relatively new compared to other human development modalities such as mentoring and therapy. Numerous studies on the impact of coaching on individuals and organizational systems have consistently shown that coaching is one of the most powerful transformational development interventions any coaching-ready individual and organization can undertake. The case study focuses on a team coaching engagement with one of multiple teams being coached across the organization. The focus of the case study is the fluid and constantly changing nature of relationships among all parties, especially between the team and Johan, and the team and Themba, the team coach. One of team coaching's focus areas in the organization was to support teams to build greater cohesion and heighten team members awareness of their critical role in growing the brand across the region. The external team coaches working across the organization were required to regularly meet with their team leaders before every virtual team coaching session.
