ABSTRACT

Team coaching focuses on helping teams collectively achieve the team's work, in terms of taskwork and teamwork, through a sustained series of conversations that raise the individual and collective level of reflection and self-awareness, and challenge the team's thinking and behaviours as they develop sustainable solutions and practices. The purpose of the team coaching was to assist the team in working better as a team as opposed to team members concentrating just on their own roles and tasks. As part of the contracting meeting, the team members agreed that their key norms or ground rules throughout the team coaching process were to be open-minded, positive, willing to change, patient, and calm. The diagnostic stage in the team coaching process aimed to gather enough data from the team and its stakeholders to present a picture of the current perception of the team from within and from outside the team, in order to lead a co-design of the team coaching journey.
