ABSTRACT

Coaches often find themselves meeting with organisational stakeholders and commissioners of coaching when seeking to work as an external coach providing coaching into organisations. Coaches describe themselves in the position of “business owner” or salesperson at this moment, and some of the skills and approaches which coaches use may be at odds with how they work as coaches, which leads to a tension. This chapter explains the case study that is a composite of many of authors personal experiences, as well as those described during author research which also closely resemble this scenario. The way of being seemed to satisfy Domonic and Naomi that she was the coach for the job and that she understood what needed to be done.
