ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to identify and discuss problems arising at the interface of environment and energy policies in a transition economy. The process of reforming these policies in Poland is scrutinized with particular emphasis on an attempted departure from the dominance of coal towards greater reliance on hydrocarbons and renewable sources.
