ABSTRACT

Coordination process occupies a central role in construction projects management. This paper investigated the coordination process through selected articles from well-known academic journals. The articles were classified based on coordination process consideration; as a core issue of the study or appeared in the study results as a main factor. The aim of this paper is to review critically the literature for addressing the gap and presenting a research agenda of coordination process. The main findings are: (1) construction industry suffers from poor performance as a result of lack or insufficient coordination; (2) further research should focus on coordination as a core issue; and (3) coordination is one of the critical success factors in construction projects, and affect its performance significantly. Finally, coordination process still in the infancy stage in construction management and need more research to reap its dividends, using artificial intelligent, in order to enhance construction projects performance.
