ABSTRACT

Putrajaya in Malaysia is one the finest and intelligent garden cities of the world. It was designed to achieve the target of 70% modal-split towards public-transport and 30% private-transport. The imbalance between public and private-transport usage has been increasing and currently 85% of the travelers’ are using private-vehicles. To reduce this imbalance, there is a need to shift car-users towards Park-and-Ride (P&R) service. To shift mode-choice from private-vehicle to P&R service, there is a requirement for travel-behavior survey. Therefore, this research focuses on the influencing factors of employees’ mode-choice in Putrajaya. To collect the data, a survey was conducted through a questionnaire. Descriptive and Pearson correlation analysis techniques applied to analyze the data. The research findings were more towards the implementation of parking charges at workplaces to discourage car-users. The research outcomes will support the policy making and provide a base for future study on mode-choice model for P&R service.
