ABSTRACT

Numerical investigations have been carried out on reinforced concrete structures in order to evaluate the stress distribution at the base of the L shaped shear walls. Several structural parameters that influence the seismic behavior such the number of stories, length of the shear wall as well as the thickness of the wall have been implemented in our investigation. In total, more than 200 numerical models were crated and analyzed. Based on the analyses results it has been showed that this type of walls have a short shear walls behaviour, so shear cracking turn into flexural cracking once the wall is thick starting from 15 cm, 20 cm and 25 cm, the values of shear span ratio is about 2.00, 2.40 and 2.50 respectively.
