ABSTRACT

One institution that is yet to be involved in any significant way when it comes to implementing Article 11 of the Paris Agreement on climate change is the university. This chapter explores the potential role universities could play in building the capacity of the next generation, as well as today’s policy-makers and implementers, in dealing with climate change. Given that universities are some of the robust institutions around, having withstood changes in political regimes and other shocks, leveraging them to implement the capacity-building article in the Paris Agreement is not only effective, but likely to be sustainable.
