ABSTRACT
Women’s participation in the public service across the 19 countries in the Latin America region continues to grow, but their progress differs among branches and levels of government within and among countries. This chapter provides an overview of women in public service in the region and its member countries and discusses the characteristics of Latin American women in the public service. It discusses the factors that underlie the variation in their success across the region in achieving equality with men.
