ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the emergence of the human rights agenda at the Getulio Vargas Foundation Business School (FGV) in São Paulo and presents reflections on the pedagogical practices and research developed in collaboration with the FGV School of Law to address the human rights related impact of mega infrastructural projects in Brazil. It presents also organizational aspects of a joint elective course for three undergraduate programmes and the respective learning outcomes of the specific students’ participative learning methods applied. The respective challenges and solutions on integrating human rights into business, public management and law-related education are presented. Recognizing the complexity of the issue, the chapter emphasizes the opportunities related to the implementation of Principles for Responsible Management Education, encouraging management educators in other countries to share their practices and learning.
