ABSTRACT

All parents want their children to receive a varied and sound education suited to their needs and skills, and to be happy in school. They want access to a broad-based and relevant curriculum, which celebrates individual contributions and will empower their children eventually to play a self-determined role in the wider social world. They usually prefer a local school with strong community links, where children can socialise with a peer group who have interests and experiences in common. It is the same for parents of children with special educational needs, although the type and number of schools able to deliver this may well differ.
