ABSTRACT

This study will provide relevant information related to HR departments’ roles implementation effectiveness. The method of this research is descriptive through survey. The sample consisted of 592 employees in five-star hotels on Java Island. Variables in this study cover areas related to Employee Relations, Functional Specialist, Strategic Integrator, and Innovator. Almost of the indicators are in the “effective” category, which means that employees determined that HR departments in the companies in which they work have performed their role effectively. Employee expectation for all indicators are higher than the current condition score. The existence of a gap between employees’ expectations regarding the importance of the HR department’s role implementation with the current condition and also the significant differences in almost all indicators shows that companies still need to improve their HR departments’ role’s effectiveness through improvement of existing indicators in order to meet employee expectations.
