ABSTRACT

Architects’ careers can rise and fall by the coverage they receive in journals. A journals’ potential to influence the architectural profession is of great interest, but some are more successful than others, and some are in more control of their own success. The editor of an architectural journal is in the enviable position of having a regular forum to comment on the world of architecture. Editors have the means to talk to those involved and those establishing themselves in architecture. If we assume that architects and students read journals, and they are somehow inspired by what they see in them, then how does this influence transfer from the editor as an individual to the market they aim at, and the buildings we inhabit?
