ABSTRACT

A social super-organism is more than just a living system. A social super-organism, would, like a biological organism, be an independent whole, complete in itself. In the animal world there are several examples of organisms that come together to form integrated social units. The shift to a social super-organism would essentially mean that society became a more integrated living system. When insects and animals come together, they congregate as a single unit. But it is extremely unlikely that the human social super-organism will form itself on the physical level. Large countries might seem to be more like super-organisms in that they can function as independent units. Advancing like a single organism through the forest, a colony will cross streams by forming a living bridge of ants clinging tenaciously to each other. In all instances of animal super-organisms there is very little individual diversity.
