The one constant with respect to technology is change. The rapid advancement of technology, including changes to existing systems and the emergence of radically new systems, highlights the continuous need for a user-centered design approach that involves older adults. Today technology evolves rapidly, and as it does, so do design considerations. This chapter is intended to be forward-looking, presenting a discussion of the rapid advancement of technology, emerging technologies and potential considerations for their design, how design principles for older adults may or may not change over the next decades, emerging methods to evaluate design, and the need for designers to anticipate the future.
