ABSTRACT

This chapter establishes Goleman's Framework of Emotional Competences (ECs) and the Bar-On Model of Emotional-Social Intelligence (ESI) as useful templates to evaluate online and blended tutor competences. A framework of ECs is proposed that, in the views of adult learners, appeared to contribute to tutor effectiveness within a higher education, blended learning context. Further, examples of e-tutor actions are provided that contextualise these ECs in online and blended learning environments.
