ABSTRACT

Pig breeding in China has shifted from rural households’ backyard breeding to large-scale breeding. To better improve the benefit and development of pig breeding industry, this paper selected 238 pig farms in Chengdu as a sample and empirically analyzed the factors influencing the economic benefit of large-scale pig breeding. The results showed the breeding scale, the ratio of technical personnel, the change rate of pork market price, the change rate of piglet price, the change rate of concentrated feed (soybean meal), the scale of investment, and whether the government supports have significant impact on the economic benefit of pig breeding. Therefore, we put forward corresponding suggestions from the farm level and the government level.
