ABSTRACT

Once actions have been taken and initial goals have been achieved, there is a danger that the person making the changes relaxes and feels that is the end of the matter. For example, a person may keep to a diet to reduce weight. When they reach their target, they relax and gradually start putting weight back on again. The same might apply to an undesirable behaviour. To avoid this happening, the person needs to review their initial goals and set new ones. Once a person has encouraged someone to make some changes, set goals and take some action, he/she may need to equip them with some suggestions to help them stay motivated. Some people will find that once they have succeeded with the first few steps, enough momentum will have been created to spur them on. However, when difficulties, obstructions, tedium and life intervene with diversions, they may stumble and begin to lose enthusiasm.
