ABSTRACT
This chapter considers relations between elements within a set and in particular a special type of relation called an equivalence relation. There are three important properties which a relation may or may not possess: reflexivity, symmetry, and transitivity. A relation is called an equivalence relation if it possesses all the three properties. The chapter also includes exercises related to the concept of equivalence relation.
