ABSTRACT

You may recall from Chapter 8 that a population is any group of interest to a researcher. It may be small, such as all seniors in a high school, or it may be large, such as all adults residing in a state. When a population is fairly small, we often conduct a census, which is a study of all members of a population. When studying large populations, we usually administer a questionnaire to just a sample and infer that what is true of the sample is also true of the population.
