ABSTRACT

The term eustasy refers to a uniform worldwide sea-level change. Water additions or extractions from the oceans (glacio-eustatic change) and changes in ocean-basin volume (tectono-eustatic change) lead to eustatic change (Table 4). In addition, steric change, associated with the temperature or density changes in seawater, also affects global sea level. Much of the predicted sea-level rise during the current century will result from the thermal expansion of seawater.
