ABSTRACT

Soil particle is considered granular material, and consolidation-unloading test and imitative liquefaction test by the gravity release are simulated by distinct element method (DEM). The potential energy of the specimen is expressed as the elastic energy accumulated in the spring between elements in gravitational field, and the change of the elastic energy is examined from the viewpoint of over-consolidation and reconsolidation characteristics for the liquefaction resistance. The result showed harmonizing with the conventional laboratory test on effect of the over-consolidation and characteristics of the re-liquefaction resistance, when the liquefaction is considered as such concept.
