ABSTRACT
Function evaluations are virtually ubiquitous in numerical programming and their accuracy and efficiency determine, to a large extent, the overall performance of the computer codes. While for individual evaluations a predefined accuracy is commonly a sufficient requirement, for massive computations, the efficiency may decide the very feasibility of the calculations. Even though the same techniques may sometimes beneficially impact on both aspects, accuracy and efficiency are typically achieved by distinct methods.
