ABSTRACT
The Roman architect Vitruvius provided us with the principles of design quality when he suggested “commodity, firmness and delight” as the key elements of a well-designed building. He was less obliging however in suggesting how we might objectively measure the largely qualitative aspects of design. A couple of thousand years later Design Quality Indicators . . . have finally given us a method for doing just that.
