ABSTRACT
The fruit’s stalk faces the audience who can clearly appreciate the seemingly simultaneous outward explosion in either side marking the entry and exit of the 0.30 caliber bullet. The shooting gun is an ironical reminder of the prevalence of militaristic ideologies in imaging and simulation technology research initiatives. Harold E. Edgerton innovation was emblematic because it could accurately record within one frame multiple impressions of an event as it occurred in time. In Edgerton’s work, time ceases to be the source event of individuation to become that which reduces complexity. Multiple events extend back into the past, or progress forwards toward some future, but they are always observed and experienced from the present. It is far from certain that existing reductionist approaches are capable of dealing with the complexity of eventualizations.
