ABSTRACT

SUMMARY The issue of Climate Change has moved quickly over the last five years from ‘is it real?’, to ‘is it too late?’ Leading scientists have identified the rapid rise in greenhouse gas concentrations – from 270 parts per million (ppm) of CO2, in the atmosphere at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, to over 380 ppm now – an increase of over 30 per cent as caused by human activity. Already the effects of even this one degree increase are being felt in changing weather patterns, melting polar icecaps and glaciers.
